About Louis XIII From 1610-1643, Louis XIII was the King of France during the merger of the Navarre crown with the French crown.Louis XIII was born in September 1601. These instances were made possible only under the rule of Louis XIII and his chief advisor, Cardinal Richelieu.France also developed a positive relationship with Japan when the Japanese samurai, Hasekura Tsunenage was sent to Rome and ended up in Saint-Tropez a few days later. Later, in 1636, a French Dominican priest named Guillaume Courtet reciprocated when he entered Japan.Even though Louis XIII was one of France’s best kings and strong on foot, he seemed to struggle mentally. He did not have sustainable mental stability and was chronically ill. This undermined his capabilities and influenced his power. Cardinal Richelieu was aware of his situation and took advantage by aiming to gain royal force and authority in France.
