Kerry subsequently started a bait shop during the ’70s and this is when he forged a friendly relationship with Ozzie Canada who was a renowned jazz record producer.While he was working at the shop, he forged a friendship with his co-worker Bill Stevenson. Bill also used to study at Mira Costa High School but was eight years younger than Keith. Later on, Morris led Bill toward music and both friends became the co-founders of the group Black Flag and started performing in 1978.The journey of Black Flag becoming a success is particularly interesting. As early members of Black Flag, Keith and Ginn struggled with getting hold of a trustworthy bass guitarist. As a result, they often ended up playing the music without the bassist. This led to Ginn developing a unique low-pitched sound with the guitar. After several trials, Black Flag finally got its bass player, Chuck Dukowski.Then, the quest began to find a jazz drummer for Black Flag. This search thankfully did not extend for too long as they gave an advertisement in a local paper named ‘Pennysaver’ and found Robo as the jazz drummer for Black Flag.After tasting success with Black Flag, Keith Morris decided to move on and formed the Circle Jerks with former guitarist Greg Hetson.
