About Dan Reeves Daniel Edward Reeves, popularly known as Dan Reeves, was an American football player for the Dallas Cowboys and a coach for various teams in the NFL.Dan Reeves began playing college football and eventually moved on to play with the Cowboys from 1965-1972. He then moved on to coaching teams and became one of the youngest head coaches when he started working with Denver Broncos.Starting his football playing career in college, Dan Reeves received offers from various National Football League teams, but eventually decided to sign with the Dallas Cowboys to play safety, in 1965, as an undrafted free agent and was later moved to play halfback. The outstanding performance by Reeves in 1966 against the New York Giants, led them to reach their first championship games and three Super Bowl appearances (Super Bowl XXI, Super Bowl XXII, and Super Bowl XXIII). He then posted back-to-back seasons in 1967 and set a franchise record after scoring four touchdowns. In 1972, Reeves retired as a player to become a full-time assistant coach with the team, thus starting his coaching career.After coaching the Dallas Cowboys for almost a decade, Reeves joined the Denver Broncos in 1981 as its vice president and head coach, thereby, making him the youngest head coach in the history of the NFL at that time.
